Bio:
Dr. Ajay Saxena is a Scientific Director in Drug Product Development at Bristol-Myers Squibb, with over 18 years of industry experience spanning pre-clinical through commercial formulation development. He leads a matrix team of drug delivery formulators focused on enabling complex and emerging modalities — including targeted protein degraders, PROTACs, and other beyond-Rule-of-5 chemical entities — where solubility, permeability, and oral bioavailability present significant formulation and delivery hurdles.
Dr. Saxena's work centers on drug product bioperformance risk assessment, translating physicochemical and biopharmaceutic understanding into robust control strategies, and designing novel drug delivery systems that bridge molecule design and clinical performance.
He earned his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics from the University of Bradford and completed postdoctoral research at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Saxena has been recognized with multiple industry awards and has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and patents in the field of biopharmaceutics and drug delivery, including a patent on a delivery technology and clinical assessment for PROTACs.
