Bio:
Dr. Gwanyoung Kim is Head of the Formulation Technology Center at Daewoong Pharmaceutical, where he leads formulation R&D and CMC activities across the Daewoong Group. With more than 20 years of experience in pharmaceutical formulation and over seven years leading formulation research organizations, he oversees more than 100 scientists and overseas research operations. His expertise spans advanced drug delivery systems, particularly long-acting injectable depots, microspheres, sustained-release suspensions, microneedles, and nasal delivery. He has led the development of preclinical and global clinical-stage formulations, including in vitro–in vivo correlation studies, scale-up, technology transfer, and CMC strategy. He has also contributed to the end-to-end development of multiple novel and differentiated medicines at Daewoong Pharmaceutical, SK Chemicals, and Dong-A ST. Dr. Kim earned his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in Pharmacy from Seoul National University. His doctoral research focused on linking the in vitro characteristics of microsphere depots and tablet formulations with their in vivo pharmacokinetic performance. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, is an inventor on more than 20 granted patents, and received the 2021 Pharmaceutical Technology Award from the Korean Society of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Technology.
