Bio:

Dr. Matt Angel has led Tempest Therapeutics as CEO since 2026. A pioneer in in vivo CAR-T technology development, Dr. Angel is a prolific inventor with more than 150 patents covering in vivo cell engineering, mRNA, nucleic acid delivery, gene editing, and cell reprogramming technologies. Dr. Angel is a serial entrepreneur, and is Co-Founder of biotechnology company, Factor Bioscience, which he founded in 2011, immuno-oncology company, Exacis Biotherapeutics, where he served as Scientific Advisory Board Chair, and the recently acquired cell therapy company, Novellus Therapeutics. Dr. Angel received his Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he studied the innate immune response of cells to exogenous RNA molecules, and his B.S.E from Princeton University.
