Neerja Zambare, PhD
Senior Engineer, R&D
Bio:
Dr. Neerja Zambare is a Senior Engineer in Research & Development at Lonza's Bend site, where she focuses on enabling next-generation biologics delivery technologies through innovative formulation and particle engineering approaches.
Neerja earned her Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Montana State University, conducting interdisciplinary research at the intersection of transport phenomena, biochemistry, and material science. She was subsequently awarded the Linus Pauling Distinguished Post Doctoral Fellowship at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory where she led research on sub-micron-scale biological processes and microfluidics.
At Lonza, Neerja leads the efforts in aseptic spray drying and formulation technologies aimed at overcoming key challenges associated with biologics delivery, including viscosity limitations for high-dose biologics, stability constraints, and administration volume restrictions. Her work explores the conversion of biologics into sterile, stable dry powders and the development of non-aqueous suspension systems that enable higher drug loading while maintaining injectability and product performance.
At PODD 2026, Neerja is interested in connecting with companies evaluating formulation and delivery strategies for biologics that can benefit from Lonza's aseptic spray drying platform.
