Russell Johnson, PhD

Bio:

Russell Johnson, Ph.D., is a leading expert in mRNA and protein delivery. He previously served as Head of Delivery Sciences at Moderna and Omega Therapeutics. He brings more than 16 years of industry research and development experience in RNA delivery across preclinical and clinical programs. Before joining Moderna and Omega, Russell was the Local Head of Basic Pharmaceutical Sciences at GSK’s U.S. Vaccine Research Center, where he worked across GSK’s vaccine technologies and platforms. He has deep experience with lipid, polymeric, and inorganic nanoparticles as mRNA and nucleic acid delivery vehicles, and he has authored more than 40 peer-reviewed publications and holds two patents in mRNA delivery. He has led or contributed to seven drug candidates that advanced to human clinical trials, one of which received FDA approval.
