Bio:

Sean Barrett (he/him, M:IPD) is a human factors researcher at Design Science, where he partners with cross-functional teams to support clients’ human factors goals, design and execute usability studies, and translate study findings into actionable design recommendations. He came to human factors with a background in fabrication, design research, and education beginning with a BFA in Design and continuing with a Master’s in Integrated Product Design. This path taught him to think about products as physical expressions of user needs that must be integrated into people's daily lives rather than collections of abstract functions. Sean also teaches prototyping workshops for the Integrated Product Design program at the University of Pennsylvania. Throughout his research and teaching, he employs human-centered methods grounded in the practical realities of design and manufacturing to help clients better understand and fulfill the needs of their intended users.
