Bio:

Shankar Swaminathan, PhD is Team Lead/Associate Director, Drug Product Development at the Astellas Institute for Regenerative Medicine (AIRM), where he leads drug product development activities supporting the advancement of cell therapy programs from early development through commercialization. With extensive experience in formulation, process development, fill-finish operations, cryopreservation, and CMC strategy, he works across multidisciplinary teams to develop robust and scalable manufacturing solutions for advanced therapies. Dr. Swaminathan is passionate about translating innovative science into practical, patient-focused therapies and frequently contributes to industry discussions on manufacturing readiness, phase-appropriate development, quality by design, and commercialization strategies.
