Tycho Speaker, PhD

Tycho Speaker holds a PhD in Physical Chemistry and began his career in semiconductor process engineering before moving into pharmaceutical and device development. He is Senior Principal Research Scientist at AbbVie, within Device and Combination Products Development, where he leads the Device Innovation Group focused on early-stage technology development for next-generation delivery platforms. He is also Founder and CEO of Capsulent, a microencapsulation company providing innovative raw materials for Personal Care markets. Independent of his AbbVie role, he is the inventor of UniDose, a post-driven microneedle vaccine delivery device. Over the past four decades, Tycho has been named inventor on more than 20 patents and applications spanning materials science, device engineering, and delivery platforms.
