Session details:
- Peritoneal carcinomatosis is an unmet clinical need and occurs in most cases after local metastasis of a primary gastrointestinal or gynaecological tumor, such as colorectal cancer, gastric cancer or ovarian cancer to the peritoneal cavity
- Existing treatments deliver unsatisfactory results: systemic chemotherapy does not reach the peritoneal cavity, and current local treatments use off-label drug products that are cleared rapidly from the peritoneal cavity
- Hydrogel-based intraperitoneal drug delivery offers significant potential to increase local drug exposure towards improving therapeutic outcomes and minimizing systemic toxicity.
