Session details:

A pipeline of tissue-targeting therapies is in development for conditions that are difficult to treat in anatomies that are difficult to reach and increasingly requires surgical procedures to ensure delivery is targeted and precise. Successful drug development relies as much on the delivery device and procedure as on the therapeutic. The invasive, higher risk nature of these procedures emphasizes the need for devices such as surgical robotics to deliver the precision, safety and reproducibility these therapies demand. However, such devices, developed to meet the needs of other procedures, are not currently an off-the-shelf solution for pharma.
  • How can pharma extend drug delivery device development to encompass elements such as workflow, imaging and infrastructure.
  • How can surgical device developers ensure the drug defines the technology.
This session sets out what has to change on both sides and consider why drug, device and procedure must be treated as a single integrated system.
